A designated space has now been made available as part of the initial refurbishment of Fisher Library. It is a closed space next to the kitchen and bathrooms on Level 3 Fisher South, available for parents to have a quiet area to be with their children. It contains two cubicles, a microwave and a baby change table for all your needs.

Please feel free to use this space if you are a parent with children. The space is NOT available for general access.

Due to industrial action there will be major disruption to University Library services on Tuesday 14^th May 2013.

From Monday 13^th May, 2013, requests for scans of articles from journals held in the Storage Collection should be made by going to MyLoans  and then clicking on the Request articles from Storage link.

Books for Storage will continue to be requested by clicking the Request button in the Catalogue.

Head to http://sydney.edu.au/library/libraries/storage/ for more information about requesting material from our Storage Collection.

The scheduled outage will take place 10pm Wednesday until approximately midnight. Our online catalogue will not be accessible during that period.

You will still be able to search our holdings via CrossSearch from the Library home page, however, if the search results are catalogue related, you will not be able to reach the catalogue when clicking on any of the results for that period of time.

During the outage you will also be able to access online resources via the e-journal portal and our other lists of e-resources.

Library Borrower Number login will not be available during the outage.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

25 March to Friday 5 April 2013

ANZAC material from the University Archives and Rare Books and Special Collections is on display in the Fisher Library Level 2 exhibition area until Friday 5^th April.

Notable items include the Gallipoli diary of Francis Badham Oliver, C.E.W. Bean’s personal copy of the ANZAC book which was compiled by troops in the trenches and camps of Gallipoli in 1916, and the Sydney University Union War Service Record of Captain Percy Storkey, recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for acts of bravery in wartime.

The display is open the same hours as Fisher Library.

The University of Sydney recognises the importance of publishing research findings and the pressure on researchers to do so. However, the Library wishes to advise the researchers of the University to take care if they are approached with an unsolicited offer to publish their research or thesis. There are a number of “predatory” publishers out there taking advantage of the Open Access movement and early career researcher’s desire to publish.

As a result of this we have updated the information on the Publish your research website to highlight this issue.

If you are approached with an unsolicited offer to publish your research or have any questions about such an offer to publish contact your Faculty Liaison Librarian.
